The easiest way to explain a sewer camera inspection is that it is like a ‘colonoscopy for your sewerage pipes’.
Essentially, a sewer camera inspection is when a small camera is inserted into your drain on the end of a long flexible hose. The video is transmitted from the camera, through the cable within the hose to a monitor, that allows the camera operator to virtually travel through your sewerage system, inspecting it’s condition as they go.
A sewer camera inspection can be exceptionally useful for diagnosing the cause of persistent blockages (for example, you may be able to find a break or roots within your sewerage pipe that waste keeps becoming stuck on that is causing your blockage).
Sewer camera inspections may also be very helpful, when used in conjunction with a locator, to identify where exactly in your sewerage system there is a break, which can save considerable time and money when it comes to digging up your sewerage line and effecting repairs.
A camera inspection, in conjunction with a locator can also be used to try and identify where sewerage lines run when poor, or no drainage plans exist. Which may be required when repairs or renovations are being undertaken.
In essence, a sewer camera inspection allows the operator to gain a clearer understanding as to what is happening within your sewer which can make repairs, and renovations far easier, saving you both time and money.
