The top 6 reasons you should choose hydronic heating

We’ve pulled together the top reasons why you should choose hydronic heating (and cooling) to climate control your home!

Hydronic heating is efficient and cost effective

Hydronic heating and cooling systems are exceptionally efficient, with very little heat loss or gain throughout the well insulated pipework, and zoned so that you are only heating or cooling the areas that you need to. Changing to hydronic will save you money on your gas or electricity bill when compared to ducted systems.

Hydronic heating is dust & allergy free - great for asthmatics

Unlike ducted gas central heating or ducted air conditioning, hydronic systems don’t rely on the movement of air (and the circulation of dust and allergens) to heat your home. With hydronic heating, the heat passes from the system to yourself via radiant heat (or thermal radiation), essentially the heat energy is passed from the radiator, or underfloor heating to you via photons.

Hydronic heating is safe

Unlike many other ducted heating systems, which allow for the likes of fire and smoke to be transported via the ducts throughout the whole home, hydronic heating is the transfer of thermostatically heated or cooled water via pipework throughout the home. At no time is the pipework too hot or cold to touch - meaning there is no risk of burns, and the pipework does not act as a flue or chimney for smoke in the event of a fire. Furthermore, as no air is circulated, dust, and other potentially harmful particles are not circulated throughout your home with a hydronic system.

Hydronic heating allows for flexibility and staged renovations and extensions

If you are currently renovating, but intend on actioning further renovations in the future, hydronic heating is perfect, provided your boiler has a large enough capacity, when you build any further extensions, you simply plumb them back to the original system, just like they were always there!

Hydronic heating doesn't result in cold spots or dry skin

Hydronic heating provides you with a radiant heat source, this means that there are never going to be hot and cold spots (as it is you being heated, not the air in the room), and you won’t be left feeling dry and dehydrated like you are with air conditioners, gas or wood heaters.

Hydronic heating looks great - or is invisible

Hydronic heating is able to be implemented in a couple of different ways. Either via underfloor heating (a series of pipework that is installed in your floor structure) or via a series of radiator panels that are installed throughout your home. Unlike the radiator panels that you are used to seeing in UK TV shows, panels come in various shapes and sizes these days, and can look more like expensive art and sculptures, or perfectly normal towel rails than they do, like a utilitarian appliance.

Heat pump technology is revolutionising the way we heat water for domestic use. Unlike traditional systems that rely on direct heating methods, heat pump hot water systems work on the principles of heat transfer. Using significantly less energy than traditional systems, a heat pump system offers significantly lower running costs than traditional systems. Click through to learn more.
